Ark Astra is what I call a track development euro game, where players must each turn choose to advance on one of four possible development tracks to perform one main action. Each track grants a different range of actions and figuring out the sequence to advance on these four tracks (based on personal objectives, the current state of the game board, and other player's position on the tracks) is key to do well in the game. Animal meeples (with unique abilities) can be resuced by the first player to reach a certain levels on each track. Each player has an identical player board which includes a rotating wheel used to refine certain resources through rotation, while also functionning as a built in endgame timer for each player. A player will have performed his final action after his wheel completed four full rotations. Using your available time wisely is crucially important (just as in real life).
